Tech: Difference between offline partial discharge instrument and online inspection partial discharge instrument
1. Online inspection partial discharge instrument uses ultrasonic method for measurement,
which is a qualitative measurement. It is generally used for online inspection to detect
running equipment, which is also called Online Patrol PD Check. It can check whether there is partial discharge and provide a basis for
troubleshooting, but it cannot measure the accurate PC value.
The advantages are portability, DC power supply, simple connection and easy use.
It is also possible to use ultrasonic partial discharge instrument when doing withstand
voltage, but it can only measure qualitative values, not quantitative values.
Now our New Online PD tester have Sound Wave and Infrared function as well.

2. The partial discharge instrument for offline experiments uses the pulse current method,
